Berwick – a visual feast for the next two weeks!

The next couple of weeks sees the Berwick Film Festival team up with the Berwick Food Festival for the first time to bring food on film to the big screen in Berwick.

The Food Festival, which runs for the 4th time this weekend, opens with a special screening of Babette’s Feast at the Maltings Theatre & Cinema this evening at 8pm.

Babette’s Feast is the much loved and Oscar-winning tale of Babette, who has fled the French civil war for a Danish coastal village as she prepares a meal fit for a king in honour of her newfound community.

The weekend continues with short films on food screening in the Barracks, for free, and with a showing of the Pixar animation Ratatouille on Sunday morning at the Maltings, for only £3. The Beer Festival runs simultaneously all weekend on the Parade.

The Film Festival meanwhile starts two weeks tomorrow for the 7th time, and brings you culinary delights in the form of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, hosted in partnership with Café Curio, also one of the Food Festival’s partners this year. The event offers cream tea & cucumber sandwiches together with a serving of the first ever adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland from 1903 which was lovingly restored by the BFI National Archive just last year.

Tickets for all of the above are available from The Maltings Theatre & Cinema Box Office on 01289 330999.
