Glass act for the 2nd Inntravel Short Film Awards!

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival has commissioned North East based glass artist Effie Burns to create a bespoke piece for this year’s Inntravel Short Film Award.

On Saturday 20th September, a stellar Jury including the Guardian’s Head of Film, Catherine Shoard, Artist-Filmmaker, Marcus Coates, and newly confirmed Hilke Doering (Curator of Oberhausen Short Film Festival), will select a winning short film and present the triumphant filmmaker a cash prize of £750 alongside the specially commissioned beautiful glass award for them to take home.

The nominees – listed here – represent the best of the short form works and artists’ video submitted to the Festival over the past year, coming from as far as Lebanon and Paraguay as well as here in the UK – and all exploring the Border Crossing theme.

As a glass artist, Effie works across a broad range of projects both sculptural and in the public realm. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, from Contemporary Applied Arts in London to the Crafts Council in Tokyo, and just this year was recently selected for the prestigious Coburg Glass Prize in Germany.
