Berwick 10th: The Full Programme Revealed!
With five weeks to go until the Opening of our 2014 edition – we are delighted to reveal our Festival Programme in full!
17th – 21st September this year marks our 10th anniversary edition and with it the theme of ‘Border Crossing’ - our films, events and installations have been selected to represent a truly international perspective on this topical theme.
From right here at home, with the impending Scottish independence referendum (explored by artist in residence Katie Davies with The Lawes of the Marches), through to work which marks the anniversary of the Berlin wall (such as West in the film programme and Lines of Resistance as an installation, and more recently the Arab revolutions, as depicted in Forbidden Voices and in The Uprising.
We have over 75 moving image works up our sleeve, and from over 35 different countries, each being presented in thirteen unique locations around the town and along the Berwick’s Elizabethan town walls. Of these, six are world premieres, including four newly commissioned works, and 19 UK Premieres.
We are excited to be welcoming artists and filmmakers from across Europe and as far as Cairo and Lebanon to come and present their works – and we hope you can make it too!
This is just a taster of the films and installations that will open in Berwick on 17 September 2014, we’ve also a family programme and a series of workshops as well as some star-studded live events – so click here and read more about our anniversary programme.
