Official Call out to Filmmakers & Artists for Submissions to Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 2014!

We are delighted to officially open our call for submissions for this 10th edition of the film and moving image Festival described by Danny Leigh last year as ‘joyous, inventive and thought provoking’.

Each year since 2005, the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival has transformed the town into one big cinema screen through a series of film premieres, site-specific installations, and live events in a number of locations around Berwick and along the town walls; and today they call all filmmakers and moving image artists to consider submitting their work for a chance to be part of this very special anniversary programme!

Research suggests that less than 3% of film festivals reach a 10 year milestone" says Festival Director Melanie Iredale, “so we’re absolutely thrilled to be one of the few that has! It is a testament to the talented filmmakers and artists from around the world that we showcase each year, and to the audiences we attract from across the UK that we’ve not just survived but continue to grow and prosper. Huge credit also goes to our funders and supporters who continue to believe in us.”

As of today, filmmakers and artists alike can submit work that will be considered not only for the Festival programme as a whole, but those works under twenty minutes will also be in with a chance to win a cash prize of £750 (€900) with entry into the 2nd Inntravel Short Film Award.

Artists and filmmakers are welcome to submit moving image works of all types and lengths, in response to the theme, Border Crossing, for consideration.

If submitted before 30 April 2014, entrants can take advantage of the Early-bird scheme and pay an administration fee of only £6 for short films and videos and £18 feature. The final deadline for submissions is Monday 16 June.

The 10th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival comes to Berwick-upon-Tweed from 17th to 21st September 2014.
