Cecilia Stenbom to give artist talk to launch her Berwick residency

Having recently announced their first artist in residence as Cecilia Stenbom, Berwick Visual Arts already organised an opportunity to meet Cecilia, here in Berwick, as she presents a talk about her work in the new year.

Cecilia is originally from Sweden and has been based in Iceland, Finland and Scotland before moving to England in 2005. She works across a variety of media including film, video, installation, drawing and painting, is a member of AV-Arkki, Finland, and is represented by Workplace Gallery, Gateshead.

Her proposal was selected from one of 70 submitted to Berwick Visual Arts, shortlisted in partnership with the Festival and Arts Council England. Cecilia’s proposal, which takes its inspiration from British crime dramas and the Nordic Noir genre, will respond to the Festival’s 2013 theme, North by Northeast, which explores our region’s historical, cultural and trade links with our neighbours across the North Sea.

Cecilia will give a talk about her practice to date at The Maltings Theatre & Cinema’s Henry Travers Studio on Thursday 10th January at 6.30pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and the talk is free, but places are limited and must be booked in advance. Please contact The Maltings Box Office on 01289 330 999 or email box.office@maltingsberwick.co.uk to book your place. Refreshments will be served after the talk with an opportunity to meet Cecilia, and to ask questions.
