Chris Anderson Award winner takes his film to Leeds Young People's Film Festival

Winner of Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival’s Chris Anderson Award last year, Mark Boston, is delighted to be screening his award-winning animation at Leeds Young People’s Film Festival on 2nd April.

Marks film, Brian & Brian’s Amazing Eggventure Parts I, II & III, was considered the winner of Berwick Film Festival’s annual young filmmakers award on account of it’s real flair for imagination, resourcefulness and originality. The Jury was comprised of industry experts from the North East and South East Scotland including Tina Gharavi, the director of last year’s opening film, I Am Nasrine.

As well as receiving a cash prize of £200 to go towards his next film, Mark, aged 17 and from Spittal, was awarded the opportunity to screen his film at a major young people’s film festival, which runs in Leeds each Easter. This is the second time the two Festivals have worked together to tour films from the Borders down to Yorkshire, and both hope it will continue into the future, with the Chris Anderson Award 2012 soon to open for entries in May.

Brian & Brian’s Amazing Eggventure Parts I, II & III, a bizarre and surreal adventure about a duck and a gorilla, both named Brian, is confirmed to screen on 2nd April as part of Leeds Young People’s Film Festival ‘Young Filmmakers Day.’ Upon hearing of the confirmation, Mark said “I’m as excited as a penguin who has just discovered rocket-propelled ice skates to have my animation screened at Leeds Young People's Film Festival."

Martin Grund, of Leeds Film, said today “Young Filmmakers day is all about celebrating films made by young people who are making films without huge budgets, professional support or schools’ involvement. Mark’s film is a great example of this, and he shows a real raw talent – we’re delighted to be screening Brian and Brian’s Amazing Eggventure as part of the programme.”
