Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival 2011 call for proposals!

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is now open for proposals from artists working in the field of dance and film, welcoming ideas for a live performance incorporating movement both on screen and on stage.

Entitled Once Upon a Time, this year’s Festival will explore the enchantment of folklore and fairy tale on film through a series of moving image screenings, projections, installations and new commissions. The Festival is currently seeking moving image works of all kinds as part of its call for submissions, and especially seeking dance on film in line with this year’s theme.

Just last year, the Festival screened Magma by Marianna Mørkøre and Rannvá Káradóttir (Faroe Islands, 2010) and Never Has Reach by Imri Sandström (Sweden, 2009), both exploring movement on screen. This year, the Festival is also welcoming proposals for live dance performances alongside, or incorporating, screen based media, in order to celebrate the recent launch of the new, and well equipped, Henry Travers Studio in the Maltings Theatre & Cinema. Through uniting choreography with filmmaking, the proposed events will explore the theme of fairy tales and storytelling. Proposals may also incorporate talks or workshop activity. To propose an idea, please go to to complete the online form and to send links to your proposed, or previous, work. For further information contact Deadline 1pm, Friday 29 July.

The deadline for regular film and video submissions is also 1pm Friday 29 July.
