Return to the press release archive
The Berwickshire mini fest of films has today released details of what the public can look forward to come July. The mobile screen machine, an 80-seat modern mobile cinema with a state of the art 3D digital projection and Dolby surround sound will be in the Borders from the 9th to 11th July, moving between Coldstream and Eyemouth and stopping off at Duns in between.
Says Festival Director Melanie Iredale;
“We’re really excited about the Screen Machine visiting the Borders and are looking forward to screening some great films with a strong emphasis on providing something for all the family. To bring a cinema to the people has not been done before in this area and should provide a really unique experience for local audiences to enjoy”.
There is a wonderful selection of movies with something for everyone, starting off in Coldstream on Friday 9th July and showing; The Circus (U) a classic Charlie Chaplin comedy, followed by children’s favourite The Prince of Achmed (PG), based on The Arabian Nights and finishing with a home grown Scottish Black comedy, Skeletons (15), an absolute must see!!
The lorry rolls into Duns on the Saturday and continues with a slight change to the programme, we see The Red Shoes (U)a Powell and Pressburger film loved buy all , followed by a regional premier in Blue Beard (15).
Once again the Screen machine will pack up and move on to Eyemouth, it will arrive on Saturday and unfold itself once again and as befits a classic seaside location there will be a showing of the Entertainer (PG), the perfect British comedy for beside the sea.
There will be short films shown before the main feature some of which will have been made by budding young directors from the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.
The aim of the screen machine is to act as a warm up for the 6th annual Berwick Film Festival in surrounding Borders towns. The festival runs from Wednesday the 15th September to Sunday 19th September 2010.
The Screen machine project is being funded by Regional Screen Scotland and Scottish Borders Council.
The screen machine will be on location on the following dates:
Friday 9th July - Coldstream
Saturday 10th July - Duns
Sunday 11th July – Eyemouth
We are looking for volunteers to help with the production, promotion and day to day duties of Britain's only mobile cinema as it rolls into Berwickshire towns
