Volunteer with award-winning Festival, it might make you happier!

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, an international celebration of the art of film set in the border town of Berwick upon Tweed, today launches its call for volunteers to support the 10th edition of its award-winning Festival! And with recent research from the Citizens Advice Bureau indicating that volunteering boosts self-esteem, employabilty and health – especially mental health - there’s never been a better time to sign-up.

Each year since 2005, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival has relied upon a number of volunteers of all ages to support the Festival and to be ambassadors for the town of Berwick upon Tweed - which will see an influx of approximately 9,000 visitors this year for the five day Festival from 17-21 September.

“We encourage applications from people of all ages in and around Berwick,” says Festival Director Melanie Iredale, “if you’re just finishing school and in the early stages of your career, this is a great opportunity to get some work experience and increase employability. Equally, we’ve no maximum age limit, our eldest volunteer is 79 and it can be a great way to use your skills in the Berwick community, meet new people and be part of an important event for the town.”

Volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and cover activities in all areas of the event organisation and delivery, offering a chance for everyone to take part, and in return are offered unrivalled access to the Festival.

If you are interested in volunteering for the 10th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, and are aged 16 or over, visit the Festival website to apply: www.berwickfilm-artsfest.com. Deadline 31st July.
