Organised by Northeast Press, in conjunction with Tweeddale Press, the awards aim to celebrate everything that makes Northumberland a brilliant place to live, work and visit.
Drawn from hundreds of entries, the nominees attended a glittering awards ball at Newton Hall, Northumberland, last week.
Among the judges was Northumbrian Water Marketing Manager Jennie Collingwood, who said:
“The WOW Awards showcase the wealth of talent Northumberland has in the tourism, arts, business and events sectors. The judges were so impressed with the standard of applications received and the passion and commitment shown by a range of dedicated individuals who manage to drive these industries. Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is a great example of this creativity and enthusiasm, attracting 8,000 visitors to participate in an international celebration of the art of film which transforms the town into one big cinema screen. A truly exceptional experience and a worthy winner!”

“This is great acknowledgment of the fantastic work of our festival team and dedicated volunteers – and to the support of our audiences. The Festival gets more and more ambitious every year, and is now earning Berwick international attention.”
Berwick Film & Media Arts festival picked up the award for Best Event, sponsored by Banks group, in recognition of what was a home-grown festival which has developed in to an international celebration, capturing the imaginations of audiences from all over Northumberland and visitors across the UK to Berwick-upon-Tweed each September.

“This is a great tribute to the Festival and will spur us on as we work towards delivering an even bigger and better event for what will be our tenth anniversary edition this September!”
