In partnership with Northern Film & Media, Northumberland College and the Festival, Northumberland County Council have commissioned production company Magic If to create a film about the Olympic Torch Relay through Northumberland.
Filmmakers Bev Fox and Ian McLaughlin documented the torch as it travelled through Northumberland, engaging with community groups such as Berwick Youth Project and many others to produce a film, which those involved have called “Northern Flame.” Footage for the film was be shot by members of the community who captured the torch on film as it passed from Berwick to, Bamburgh, Alnwick, Hipsburn, Warkworth, Amble, Ashington, Newbiggin By the Sea, Choppington, Morpeth, Hartford and Bedlington before finally reaching Blyth on 15 June.
The film will be premiered as part of a free event here at Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, which returns for its eighth celebration of the art of film; Wednesday 19th – Sunday 23rd September.
