The fifth instalment in the Resident Evil franchise sees protagonist Alice fight alongside a resistance movement in the continuing battle against the Umbrella Corporation and the undead. The Umbrella Corporation's deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating zombies. The human race's last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex.
Originally based on the hugely successful video game Resident Evil, which now has a franchise of 17 instalments itself, the films have taken on a story of their own with Retribution returning to its origins and expanding the universe that fans have come to know and love.
Dedicated supporter of the Berwick Film & Media Festival’s youth programme - Paul W.S. Anderson - brings to Berwick-upon-Tweed The UK Premiere of the most recent episode in the Resident Evil Series. The Director (AVP:Alien vs. Predator) and star, Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element), have shown their support for the Festival throughout the last few years , and specifically the youth programme because of its dedication to supporting young talent and encouraging its development through imagination and creativity. Paul's father, the late Chris Anderson, was a key member of the board responsible for creating the Film & Media Arts festival and though unable to see the Festival flourish, his name has become synonymous with the Best Young Filmmaker Award. This UK Premiere screening will be preceded by a specially recorded introduction from Paul and Milla.
The evening will start with an apocaluyptic themed pre-screening party at the Berwick Youth Project’s Beehive as part of our ongoing partnership with the Youth Project. Zombie face-painting, video games, video games, and music are also on the menu, culminating in a Zombie Walk through Berwick-upon-Tweed town centre – visiting the Festival’s outdoor projection, Talkies Wallah, and returning to the Maltings to be the first in the UK to see the film – in full Zomie attire!
