Young Filmmakers’ Showcase

Sunday 19th September / 2PM @ The Maltings Theatre

The Festival’s youth programming team have selected the best films directed by young budding filmmakers in North East England and the Scottish Borders over the last year. Each short is up for the coveted Chris Anderson Award. Who will win? That’s for the jury to decide…

For ten weeks before the festival the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival teamed up with Berwick Youth Project to create a new and innovative Film Club. The Film Club members became part of the festival team by programming films, organising events and selecting the films entered for the Chris Anderson Award for Young Filmmakers.

The selection team were trained in watching films for an audience, storytelling, filming techniques, certification and marketing which gave them the skills to select the final films for competition. The late Chris Anderson was an avid supporter of the Festival and one of the original founder-members in 2005. £200 has been donated by his family in his honour, and will be given as prize money for the winning film. This year the winning film will also be selected to screen at the Leeds Young People's Film Festival, one of the UK's largest film festivals for young people.
